This school year (2018-2019) is my 28th year of teaching at Metamora Twp. High School. I enjoy days off and vacations just like everyone else, but I cannot imagine any other job. I absolutely LOVE what I do!! I and a part-time teacher this year and I teach Career Exploration and Accounting I.
I graduated valedictorian from Bradford High School in Bradford, IL. I worked full-time to put myself through Illinois Central College in East Peoria, IL, and Illinois State University, in Normal, IL, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Business Education. After 10 years of teaching, I earned an M.A. in Teaching and Leadership from Saint Xavier University in Chicago, IL. As an added honor, I was invited to give the commencement speech on behalf of the Graduate School at the graduation ceremony. In the years since then, I have obtained a certificate from the University of Missouri in Positive Psychology. In December of 2018, I became a Certified Global Career Development facilitator through the National Employment Counseling Association.
My working experience, outside of teaching, includes being a Teller in various banks for the first five years after high school. The next three years I worked in a personnel office at a large hospital in Peoria, IL. In my final two years before full-time teaching, I was an Executive Secretary for a nationally-known attorney.
I have been married to Dave for 32 years. We have two cats who constantly entertain us and love us. I am an aunt to six wonderful nieces, and eight great-nieces and nephews.
In my free time, I love photography, scrapbooking, traveling, reading, and learning new things. During June and July, you will find me taking graduate classes or at Flowers for 3 Greenhouse in Milliken, Colorado where I play personal assistant to the owners or irrigation specialist for the flowers or farmers’ market worker extraordinaire.
